GROWING FOR CUTTING

Batches of seed are sown progressively through Spring to ensure a constant supply of stems for cutting during Summer. Size of flower, and weight of stem, is controlled by planting distance - closer for a smaller grade, further apart for larger specimens. Stems are picked just as the outer whorl of 'true' flowers begins to open. To increase vase life, and prevent wilting, all leaves are removed when the stem is picked.

Moulin Rouge Primrose Queen
POLLEN-FREE

"It is a very good thing for fine table linen that those who make it their business to improve upon nature have managed to create pollen-free sunflowers. It's like finally housebreaking the dog. Pollen-free varieties are welcome anywhere in the house, not just in the easily scoured kitchen. Sunflowers are now seen in the very best places, their big, brash, cheerful blooms starring in fancy floral arrangements. The bride can carry sunflowers and still wear white. "
