Californian Pink
(Allium unifolium)

Flowers appear in November and last well into December, becoming papery as they age whilst still retaining their colour - they associate well with low-growing lavenders. Try them as a cut flower and leave to naturally dry in the vase, being sure to tip out the last of the water once the green of the stem starts to fade.

Native to the western US coast, these are a much hardier allium than most and able to handle heavier soils. 30cm in height and fast growing, with foliage above ground for most of the year - a good bulb for naturalising.
