Zucchini Flower
(Cucurbita pepo)
Stuff these flowers with tarragon cheese to make a tasty snack. The attached baby zucchini are very tender - treat them as an edible flower holder. Or separate the petals, put a dab of pesto on the base of each, then fold over the top to eat. Interestingly, flowers that open on a dull day have paler pigment development than flowers that open in bright sunshine.
If you have masses of flowers then use them as an ingredient for a mixed salad. Peel the petals away from the flower base, lay the petals on top of each other in a stack, roll them up tightly, then slice finely into ribbons, from the end down, into chiffonade
