Here is a suggestion we often make when asked about gift ideas: choose from our range of straw-lined wooden boxes, then select from our wide range of wines & fortifieds. We organise for the box to be couriered, with your message included in one of our free gift cards. A recent Auckland enquiry from a customer looking for a 'Nelson Wedding Gift' resulted in a choice of Nelson wines, tailored to the tastes of both bride & groom, boxed & delivered on the day.

We offer a hand-picked range of fine wines from New Zealand & around the world, as well as Sherry, Port, Armagnac, Grappa, Limoncello & other Fortifieds. Choosing a gift is not always easy, especially when you're looking for that perfect 'something', which is why Ann's experience in matching wine with customers can be a great help - contact Ann to discuss your gift ideas further.

What about a Magnum? We stock a select range, along with our own tailor-made wooden boxes. Or perhaps Glassware? Choose from a variety of top-quality wine glasses, designed for specific wine styles, as well as a range of decanters, such as the Riedel Amadeo - functional 'art glass' for the connoisseur. Read about our Club Vino Riedel Glass Tasting here to see how seriously our customers regard their glassware.
THE GIFT of FRENCH CHAMPAGNE
- Taittinger Champagne (France) Gift Pack -
One bottle of Taittinger Brut Les Folies de la Marquetterie
plus two flutes presented in a Taittinger gift box

This single vineyard cuvee is produced exclusively from grapes grown in Les Folies, in the heart of the Champagne region. Only wines from the first press are used and each plot is vinified in small volumes, using large, oak casks. Slow aging for five years in bottles brings the flavors of this Champagne to perfect harmony.
Half Bottles (375ml)

Half bottles have become increasingly popular at Casa del Vino over the last few years and we have recently extended our range. Have a browse next time you're in store - there are half bottles from top producers such as Te Mata, Craggy Range, Ata Rangi and Astrolabe, plus French Champagnes and other French wines from Burgundy, Alsace and the Rhone.

Gifts to make a wine lover's Christmas
NEIL HODGSON 25/11/2011
Christmas is only a month away, so it is time to start buying gifts for the special people in your life, if you haven't already. Because this is a column about wine, of course I am going to tell you to buy something wine-related, but it doesn't have to be a bottle of wine. There are lots of choices. Two of my favourite gift-buying places are Page and Blackmore Booksellers in Trafalgar St and Casa del Vino in Hardy St.
Ann has everything from premium glassware to special bottles of liquid nectar that will satisfy every taste & budget
At Casa del Vino, you are spoiled for choice. Owner Ann has everything from premium glassware to special bottles of liquid nectar that will satisfy every taste and budget. If the person you are buying for loves a particular variety of wine, such as chardonnay, then why not buy them a couple of glasses designed specifically for that wine. Riedel makes a range of premium glasses designed to enhance every variety of wine, and the right glass does make a difference. They are expensive - $55-plus a glass - and if you don't want to stretch to that, then check out the range from Spiegelau
, another premium maker whose glassware starts at about $20 a glass. One really good idea is a tube of four stemless glasses.
Casa del Vino has plenty of treats in the way of wine itself. How about a magnum (1.5 litres) of the 2008 Te Mata Coleraine for $185 in a presentation box or a magnum of bubbles from Pol Roger
for $220? If you have a whisky lover in your house, then a single malt from Bruichladdich
in a presentation box with a purpose-designed whiskey glass for less than $100 will be perfect.
