Pipoli Aglianico del Vulture 2010 (Basilicata, Italy) Special $19.99 (RRP $25.00)

Aglianico del Vulture has been dubbed the Barolo of the South. The Aglianico grapes grow on the volcanic slopes of Mount Vulture in Basilicata in Southern Italy and produce full-bodied reds with firm tannins, high acidity and good ageing potential - similar to Nebbiolo (the Barolo grape grown in northern Piedmont) but very much more affordable. "A dark red wine, ripe with a plum scented aroma which is enhanced by notes of coffee, truffles and roasted nuts. A robust, muscular wine, yet nicely rounded with ripe, supple tannins, minerality and freshness."
