Andrew Greenhough & Jenny Wheeler bought their 4ha property in 1990, previously established in 1976 as a small vineyard & winery. They have now expanded to 11ha, with the original plantings largely redeveloped & the winery modernised. A small block remains of over 30yr old Riesling, Pinot Noir & Pinot Blanc vines.

The Bolitho family have owned & operated Waimea Estates since 1993, when Trevor & Robyn Bolitho first planted grapes on the Waimea Plains. The company currently produces a number of brands, which cover a broad range of wine styles - Waimea, Spinyback & Takutai.

Hermann & Agnes Seifried planted their first vineyard in Upper Moutere in 1973, which they sold in 1998. They now have six separate vineyards, identified by three main soil types - the heavy clay loam of Redwood Valley, the sandy silty sites of Rabbit Island, Challies Block, & the Cornfield Vineyard, & the rocky historic river beds of Brightwater & Edens Road Vineyards.

Te Mania is a small family-owned winery, established in 1990 by husband & wife team Jon & Cheryl Harrey. Their vineyards are planted on old alluvial terraces. The 4.5ha 'Home Block' is located in Pughs Rd & their 4ha 'Bartlett Block', established in 1994, is located in McShanes Rd.

Samantha & Lars Jensen purchased Richmond Plains in 2005. Certified organic since it's inception in 1991, they have developed it further to become NZ's first certified biodynamic vineyard in 2008.

Milcrest Estate was established by Terry Milton & Christine Cook in 2006. Located in Hope, the property they purchased was already growing export-grade boysenberries, which they converted into vineyard plantings. Their first harvest was in 2009.
Three rivers (Wai-iti, Wairoa, & Waimea) flow across the Waimea Plains, historically depositing flood-plain gravels & creating terraces. There is a concentration of these gravels around Brightwater, an area viticulturally distinct from the rest of the region.

Gary & Valley Neale began growing grapes in 1993, producing their first wines under the Brightwater Vineyards label in 1999. Their vineyards are located on an ancient river terrace near Brightwater, ideally suited to viticulture with its sunny aspect & free-draining alluvial gravels.

Owned by Ian Miller & June Hamilton, Kaimira is based in Brightwater on the banks of the Wai-iti river, where vineyard planting began in 1997. In 2008 they secured carboNZero certification; subsequently their whole business has been accredited under the Sustainable Winegrowing programme.
